JAMES MOORE was born to a US Navy family, growing up in Hawaii, Sicily, Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, and California. With his wife, Sue Symons, he created and ran a market research and planning firm in Atlanta. After selling the business, they moved to Montana, where James started painting professionally. Now they live on Whidbey Island, northwest of Seattle. James is an oil painter who paints because he likes discovering something’s unique beauty and then capturing his feelings about it in paint. He is represented by several galleries in Washington and Montana, and his work has been shown at national and regional exhibitions including Plein Air Painters’ US Open (Whidbey Island), Museum of NW Art (LaConner, WA), and Yellowstone Art Museum (Billings, MT). Awards he has received include the National Park Service commission for the White House Christmas Tree (2007), and Winner in the ArtWest Open Competition 2002 (Jackson Hole, WY).
