Bio

Jane Jones

Jane JonesBorn in Denver, Colorado, and continuing to live near there, Jane Jones is known for her simple, uncluttered, richly colored floral and fruit still life paintings. They are presented with jewel-like colors against solid background gradated with light that highlights the intensity and special qualities of her subjects.

She has a Bachelors Degree in Biology but returned to school to study art. An avid gardener, she is fascinated by the cycles of life in the plant world and the beauties of transformation.

She has taught art history, painting and color theory for many years at colleges and workshop venues nationally. Her book Classic Still Life Painting is about the underpainting and glazing technique in oils. She is a regular contributor to The Artist’s magazine and was the juror for their still life competition in 2006 and 2009.

Jones has won numerous regional awards and commissions and is particularly proud of the awards she has won at the American Artists Professional League in 1992, 1994, 1999 and 2004 at the annual Grand National Exhibition at the Salmagundi Club in New York City.

She is a Fellow Member of American Artists Professional League, an Associate Member of Allied Artists of America, and a member of the International Guild of Realist Artists.
