Bio

Chad Alice Hagen

Chad Alice Hagen has been exploring the resist dyeing and surface design of hand felted wool since 1979. Her dyed, pieced, and beaded and stitched felt work can be found in major collections. She has her BA and MS from University of Wisconsin and MFA from Cranbrook. She writes extensively on art and feltmaking, and her work has appeared on the covers of Surface Design Journal, Fiberarts Magazine and Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot Magazine. She is the author of three books: Fabulous Felt Hats (2005); The Weekend Crafter: Feltmaking (2002) and The Fabulous Felt Scarf (2007), all published by Lark Books. Chad teaches workshops in the US and Europe and maintains a full-time felt and book studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
