Young Maritime Artist Search Competition Rules
 
The YOUNG MARITIME ARTISTS SEARCH by the American Society of Marine Artists (ASMA) and the Pacific NorthWest Art School (PNWAS) is designed to encourage young artists to paint maritime art and to reward these young artists through recognition and scholarships.

 

Eligibility

  • High School students in Clallam, Island, and Jefferson Counties
  • Any PAINTING in acrylic, mixed media, oil, or watercolor

Jury

  • The paintings will be juried by professional marine artists who are members of ASMA

Awards

  • 1st Place:  $500 scholarship for art classes or workshops
  • 2nd Place: $250 scholarship for art classes or workshops
  • 3rd Place: $100 scholarship for art classes or
  • Two (2) Honorable Mentions

Recognition/Show

  • Winning paintings will be displayed in the Pacific NorthWest Art School's July 2012 "Maritime Art Show"
  • Winning paintings need to be framed including  picture wire for hanging on the back (no "dogteeth" hangers)

Submission

  • Complete the application form to your right
  • Upload two (2) images
  • Images must be in jpg format with at least 300 dpi resolution
  • There is NO FEE for submission

Schedule

  • DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES:  Sunday, May 20, 2012
  • Notification of results: June 8, 2012
  • Delivery of winning paintings to PNWAS: June 18-22, 2012
  • Show Opening and Awards Reception: June 20, 2012
