Bio

Bruce Barnbaum

Bruce BarnbaumBruce Barnbaum entered photography as a hobbyist in the 1960s. After nearly 50 years, it is still his hobby, and has been his life’s work since 1970. His photography emphasizes the best of humanity and nature, using both realism and abstraction. He is a master of light and composition. His photographs often contain ambiguities, forcing the viewer to pause, think, and become part of the creative process. Through his workshops, articles, lectures, textbook, and innovative photography and music collaboration Bruce is a well respected photographer, educator, and pioneer. Bruce has published four books: Visual Symphony; Tone Poems – Book 1; Tone Poems – Book 2; and The Art of Photography, an Approach to Personal Expression. He is regularly featured in Photo Techniques magazine, and has been featured in LensWork, PhotoMedia, and Camera Arts. Bruce is represented by galleries throughout the US and abroad and in collections of museums and private collectors worldwide.
